Welcome to Photography!

How does Photography class work?
Learning the art of photography is a fantastic way to take a step back and view the world through new eyes. Not only does our photography class teach you how to create beautiful images, but it also teaches you a different way to see the world around you.
The Photography classroom is through the door directly at the top of the stairs. This is where you will meet your instructor and talk about your goals for the class. Regardless of your skill level, our Photography classes support your interests and needs, whether you are looking to develop a certain skill or to broadly grow your technical and conceptual skills in photography.
We have DSLR (Digital) and 35mm Film cameras available to borrow during class time. You are also welcome to bring your own camera, especially if you are just starting to learn about your own tools. Our photography lab also has three iMac computers and software you can use to edit your photos.
Our instructors teach using "shoot and review"—students are encouraged to walk around the building and the neighborhood to take photos, then return to the classroom to discuss the photos with the instructor.
Film students get one sample roll of 35mm film to start, and will then purchase their own film after that. We have all of the necessary equipment for students to develop their own B/W film and make prints in our darkroom! Intermediate film students are highly encouraged to attend on Saturdays for maximum time with our instructors.
Please note that we do not have the resources to develop color film. Our darkroom is B/W ONLY.
